5 Countries, 5 Ways to Eat Eggs

Good morning every one!

Eggs are one of the easiest and most versatile foods to make. In fact, they’re probably one of the first foods most of us learned to cook! Ranging from scrambled, to poached, sunny side up, to omelet style, every dish requires a different level of expertise in the kitchen.

Here are my 5 favorite egg dishes from around the world:

Tamagoyaki

Tamagoyaki is a Japanese egg dish that is regularly served at breakfast time, as well as as in a Japanese lunch take out called bento box (DOUBLE SCORE!) They are made with thin egg layers are rolled together forming a spiral log - almost like a rolled omelet.

Give it a try! Try my favorite version of this recipe from The Spruce, here.

Shakshuka

Shakshuka is an egg dish comonly found in North African countries. The eggs are cooked in a sunny-side-up style, along with spices and cheese. The spicier, the better.. Am I right, or am I right?

Tokneneng

Tokneneng, aka kwek kwek (I love saying that😁😁) is a Philippino recipe commonly eaten as a snack. I, on the other hand, have no shame and like to have it for breakfast! These fried quail eggs are typically eaten with barbecue sauce and are a must try recipe for everyone who loves cheating on their diets.. like me!

Seriously, you have to try this recipe from All Recipes Asia! Check it out here.

Migas

By now, you all should know I love me some Latin food. This dish is commonly found in Spanish and in Portuguese countries (as well as Texas). These scrambled style eggs have everything in them but the kitchen sink! If you have left overs, tortilla chips, or veggies... Throw them in there! Oh, and eggs, of course!

Make your own recipe, or try my favorite from Serious Eats, here!

Steamed Egg Custard

The ingredients might be simple, but this Chinese dish is anything but that. Custards are hard to master, but the smooth texture gives my belly the warmest, and most comforting, happy feeling.
